The Teacher Education Council (TEC) continues to assert its role to enhance the quality of teacher education in the Philippines, aligning its efforts with its mandate under Republic Act 11713. Recent engagements highlight TEC’s focus on policy development, strategic coordination, quality assurance, and fostering research and innovation.

Executive Director V Dr. Jennie V. Jocson, in her various speaking engagements, has articulated TEC’s vision for a future-ready teaching workforce. “Our work is to ensure that every Filipino teacher is equipped with the best possible training and support,” Dr. Jocson stated. This commitment is evident in the ongoing efforts to reframe the pre-service teacher education curriculum. These revisions aim to provide future teachers with competencies for effective instruction, ensuring their preparedness for evolving classroom environments.

Dr. Jocson’s presence at the 15th Midyear Convention of the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators Inc. (PAFTE) in Bacolod City on May 22, and earlier at the PAFTE-NCR Joint Pre-Service and In-Service Teacher Convention 2025 at the University of Santo Tomas on May 10, serve as avenues for collaboration and sharing insights to inform policy direction.

Furthermore, TEC’s advocacy for data-driven decision-making and career progression was discussed with Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society at the University of the Philippines Diliman and during the National Academy of Sports’ strategic planning workshop at Subic.

Moreover, Dr. Jocson’s participation in the NOSTE International Research Conference at the University of Southeastern Philippines, a forum dedicated to build resilience in science education, exemplifies the council’s dedication to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement among Filipino teachers. This active promotion of research ensures that pedagogical practices are evidence-based and responsive to the needs of the education sector.

TEC is poised to translate these engagements into tangible policy frameworks and actionable programs to ensure preparedness of Filipino educators for the future.
