The Teacher Education Council (TEC) proudly joins the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in celebrating the 5th National Higher Education Day and CHED’s 31st founding anniversary. TEC extends heartfelt congratulations to CHED Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III, who also sits as Vice Chairman of the TEC Secretariat.
As a valued member agency of the TEC, CHED plays a vital role in advancing quality education in the country. The Commission’s guidance allowed TEC to engage with CHED’s Technical Panel for Teacher Education in the current reframing of the pre-service teacher education curriculum. This initiative will cultivate a teacher education system that is resilient, inclusive, and innovative—one that meets the evolving needs of both educators and lifelong learners.
CHED has been at the forefront of educational reform and a strong advocate for enhancing the quality of teacher education. Through the years, it continues to empower teacher education institutions (TEIs), particularly those designated as Centers of Excellence (COEs).
TEC reaffirms commitment to complement CHED’s initiatives through strategic programs aimed at teacher educators’ capacity-building. Among its goals is to offer scholarship opportunities for both pre-service and in-service teachers, echoing CHED’s own grant programs. Furthermore, CHED’s recent policies on micro-credentials, equivalency, and accreditation will open possibilities for pre-service teacher education and will support a more agile and future-ready education workforce.
TEC moves with CHED toward a shared vision of strengthening higher education and preparing educators who will lead and inspire new generations.
